About

Zuyi (Joey) Huang

I didn't start in design.

I spent four years at Uber in operations — launching Shenzhen in a six-person team, then running customer experience across eight APAC markets using lifecycle data and controlled experiments. I kept encountering user problems that operations alone couldn't solve, which eventually led me into design.

At Philips and Apple, I learned how design operates inside complex organisations and technical systems. Since 2024, I've run my own design consultancy and built independent products with AI. Also, a proud design mentor who has mentored professional designers from 21 countries on ADPList.

I studied English Literature before interaction design, have lived and worked across five countries, and work in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

How I work

Find the real problem
I look beyond the visible workflow or interface to understand the people, incentives, data and decisions underneath it.
Make complexity legible
I structure complicated systems, information and workflows so people can understand what matters and act confidently.
Reframe before solving
I challenge the obvious solution when the problem framing doesn't hold up.
Prototype the system, not just the screen
I use interaction prototypes and working software to test how an idea behaves over time, not only how it looks.

Let's talk about the messy one.
